Thank you Tommy! I have never thought of fasting in this way. Fasting in Old Testament is mainly used to gain favor in times of crisis, but this is obviously not the point. It’s all about giving back to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And by doing this we will lead the lost to Christ through His love.

It is remarkable how much the Lord loves us. He always blesses and protects those that honor Him. In this situation, He is giving encouragement, through Isaiah, to those that follow Him and are in a state of distress. As Tommy points out- being barren is the “worst thing.” Yet, the Holy One of Israel wants His people to celebrate in this distressing state. He tells them to “sing and shout.” Singing and shouting is the most obvious technique to express joy. Main point- Our Lord is good and He loves us. Thus, we must take this to heart in the good and bad. We must have joy when we are “barren.” Our Lord always gives the strength to handle our “worst things.” In the end we are blessed in ways we cannot imagine. And, in the end we get to spend eternity with Him. Remember that when your day goes wrong.

Tommy,
Good word, as always. Much to ponder... much to be thankful for. (Titus 3:5-7; 1Cor. 2:9)

I like the last two days devo's, good reminders for us today. I think it is interesting that the Lord doesn't sort of "diss" the logic or reason behind Israel turning to Egypt, but just says, why trust in the finite or flawed option when you have Me....your deliverer, your creator, your savior?!? If you have been around, you know that the world will drop you when it is done with you, but not before it tempts and distracts you with its "solutions". The world offers quick, "easy" fixes and shiny temptations, but while we have to have faith and patience in trusting the Lord, the rewards are not only greater, but long lasting with no negative consequences. The bottom never drops out with God. Always good to be reminded that the Lord's promises are yea and amen!

For sure. Pretty humbling to realize God did this, and all the while we freak out when any of our perceived "rights" are messed with.

I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

Philippians 3:10-11

When I am able and healthy, I can't stand to be helped. If I can do it, I will do it. I can't imagine the strength of character it took for God to humiliate Himself like this; going so far as to allow His creation to have temporary reign over Him....to be at the mercy of morons and fools. Incredible. I feel so unworthy of such a God.

The Lord has given me many new friends in college. I have many good Christian friends that are walking closely with the Lord, but the majority of my new friends only claim to follow Christ. I’ve tried to encourage them to take their walk seriously, but most sincerely believe that they can and will change when they get out of college. Ecclesiastes 12 was written to warn Christians that today is the day to serve God. Think about this, Jesus gave his all- He died so we could be saved! So, why do we ignore Him? What better things do we have to do?
We are all a part of the body of Christ, so we need to serve the Lord. Any opportunity we miss serving the Lord, is another lost opportunity to show the Lord's amazing love to others. Do not miss out. Those that serve Christ will be better off in the end.

Of course I believe it! God is not blind, one day he will judge everyone on everything they did during their life(Ecclesiastes 12:24). Like Solomon says, "those that fear God will be better off." Every wrong will be set right.
